it was a rainy, probe internship day when ana kalaw and i dubbed our silver suzuki esteem wagon Walter Charles the First (WCF 727 plate), Prince of Suzuki. strange things happen when you're stuck in manila traffic.
walter is our friend, our pet, our companion, our locker. we've spent many days and nights together around alabang, ateneo, the C5. we introduce him to our friends ("isabel, this is walter. walter, this is isabel.") we pat him on the dashboard when he's been great ("you cut that schmuck off real good, walter!") or when we've been bad ("i didn't see that pothole, am sorry dearie").
he is now in the automobile parlor, on his way to being sold [dad: "we have to stop calling him walter, he will be sold na"]. uy, affected din sya.
ngayon pa lang, senti na ako--the way i was with travis (THD 569, lite-ace of my early college days). what is it with machines? is it because we spend so much time with them that they begin to become human to us? or is it because our parents never let us have pets?
so now cybs and i are driving a mazda pickup. roars like a plane (without the sound of speed moments), belches smoke like a true pinoy road pusit. no aircon vents, no real seatbelts, no radio. i am relieved to find out i can still drive a stick, though clutch-gas timpla is hardly an issue with diesel vehicles.
oh, his name? BATTLECAT!

Ah, many a vehicle we have christened. I am saddened by Walter's sicknesses (he's been in and out of the auto-hospital for quite a while) but we have to remember...he's old already!
Oh and did my sister tell you that even our appliances have names? The TV is Val (Sharp Valeo), and the DVD player is Xeny (Xenon).
We have pet fish but Camille refuses to become emotionally attached to them (especially after they killed one of their own)...
