random thoughts

A friend said to me this afternoon, "It's a bad time to be an icon. So many of them are dying."
Then I said, "No. We're just getting old."

More and more people who made a huge impact on what I say, listen to, watch, read, and gush about--over and over--are going to pass away.

And then this morning, realizing that I was only six years old (!) when Sixteen Candles came out, I thought, "When I was younger I found out about the cool things from my older siblings. Now that I'm older I have to talk to the kids to identify new songs or terms."

...I just hope I don't have to stop wearing my sneakers one day...
